The Culinary Institute of America's California campus felt the quake, we sustained no major damage. Most important, there were no injuries and everyone on campus is safe.
The main building at the CIA at Greystone was built in 1889 and has withstood numerous earthquakes over its history. In more recent years, significant investments have been made in re-engineering the Greystone building with modern structural supports for occasions just like this. While some cracks have appeared in spots, the building has been inspected and deemed to be safe to occupy. As a result, there are no disruptions to campus operations.
The Wine Spectator Greystone Restaurant, Spice Islands Marketplace, Bakery Caf茅 by illy, Conservatory Restaurant, and Rudd Center for Professional Wine Studies are open, and all classes and educational programs are operating on their normal schedules.
