Hyde Park, NY – More than 400 industry leaders and business owners from the alcoholic beverage industry gathered on October 9 at the Hudson Valley Beer, Wine & Spirits Summit 2.0 at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. The day started with Laurence Gottlieb, president and CEO of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation presenting its inaugural Visionary Award to Dr. Tim Ryan, president of the world’s premier culinary college.

“The Visionary Award is presented to only those outstanding individuals whose leadership, creativity, and commitment to excellence set the highest standard in the food and beverage industry for others to follow,” stated Laurence Gottlieb, president & CEO of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation. “Dr. Ryan epitomizes these qualities, as reflected in his critical role in the formation—and continuing growth—of the Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance. We are proud and honored for him to be the first recipient of this prestigious award.”

The Culinary Institute of America plays a critical role in the growth of the food and beverage industry in our region. The college is a major supporter of the Hudson Valley agriculture, providing a ready-made market for fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, eggs, honey, syrup, mushrooms, and grains from close to two dozen farms within 50 miles of Hyde Park. The CIA also purchases beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages from local producers.

Each year, the CIA’s partnerships with Hudson Valley farmers, brewers, vintners, distillers, and purveyors continue to expand. Now, the college’s Marriott Pavilion provides a new resource for growth, giving the region an extraordinary center for regional conferences and enabling greater connection and shared learning across all industry participants.

“I am pleased to accept the Visionary Award on behalf of all my colleagues at The Culinary Institute of America. Through our culinary education mission, thought-leadership conferences, and popularity as a major tourism draw, the college is proud to support both the vitality of the food and beverage industry and economic growth in Dutchess County and the region.”
