Chef at 2015 Best New Restaurant in the U.S. Speaks to CIA Graduates

Hyde Park, NY – Markus Glocker, whose Bâtard in New York City won last year’s James Beard Foundation Award for Best New Restaurant, was commencement speaker at the New York campus of The Culinary Institute of America on June 17. Glocker is the executive chef and partner—along with famed restaurateur Drew Nieporent—at Bâtard. The restaurant features modern interpretations of the traditional cuisine of his native Austria, such as schnitzel and tafelspitz.

Since its 2014 opening, Bâtard garnered three-star reviews from The New York Times and New York magazine, and earned a coveted Michelin star, in addition to the Beard Award. Chef Glocker has been recognized by StarChefs.com as one of New York City’s Rising Stars and by Plate magazine among its Chefs to Watch.
